Malaysian ‘Casanova’ recaptured in KL

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3–Malaysia’s very-own Casanova, who escaped police custody in Penang last October, has been re-captured in Jalan Raja Laut, here at 7.40pm yesterday.K. Prabaharan, 45, (pic) was nabbed by the gambling, vice and secret societies D7 unit from Bukit Aman.
He had escaped police custody as he was being taken to Penang prison after attending court in Cameron Highlands.
Prabaharan was to face more than 10 cases of duping women of cash and gold in Penang, Perak, Johor and Kedah.
His ‘modus operandi’ including posing as a Datuk Seri and a doctor.
Senior woman police officer ASP L. Chandkumary, 56, from Bedong, Kedah, was charged in a magistrate’s court here with negligence over his escape.
She denied intentionally releasing Prabaharan, who was in her custody at 1.50pm on Oct 9 at the George Town court complex here.
She also claimed trial to lodging a false police report at 8.05pm on Oct 9 at the Jalan Patani police station, claiming that the suspect had disappeared when she was writing down remarks on the case at her office, while waiting for the case to be mentioned in court.
