KUANTAN, May 9 — Pahang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob took the oath of office as Pahang Menteri Besar for the fourth term before the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah this afternoon.

The ceremony took place at Istana Sultan Abu Bakar in Pekan at 5pm.

Adnan, 63, who is also Pahang Umno chairman, was reappointed as the menteri besar after leading the BN in winning 30 out of 42 state seats contested in the 13th general election last Sunday.

He was first appointed menteri besar of Pahang on May 25, 1999, taking over from Tan Sri (now Tun) Mohd Khalil Yaakob who was appointed the Minister of Information then.

Adnan first contested the Pelangai seat, which he retained in Sunday’s general election, in 1986. He was appointed the menteri besar for the second term in 2004 and for the third term in 2008.

He is also the first recipient of the title ‘Datuk Seri Diraja’ from Sultan Ahmad Shah in 2010. – BERNAMA
