Blue Wave at Bukit Jalil stadium

KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 — The launch of the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto tonight was held to allow the people to appreciate BN’s achievements and promises should they be given a new mandate in the 13th general election.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the launch held at the indoor stadium also proved the party’s commitment to the people.

Describing the event as extraordinary, the Prime Minister said BN had initially proposed to launch the manifesto at the Merdeka Stadium or Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

“(But) we chose this indoor stadium because it is a lively but serious event. It is lively because we get to celebrate BN’s strength, but it is also serious because we are presenting BN’s manifesto…it is a very serious

“Our gathering tonight is extraordinary. In my 37 years of political experience, I can say that this is the greatest that I’ve seen,” he said before thousands of BN supporters inside and outside the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, here.

Over 16,000 BN supporters filled the stadium along with BN component party leaders who stood by BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on stage.

Also present were former prime minster Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad, his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and special envoy of infrastructure to India and South Asia Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu.

A wave of blue could be seen throughout the stadium with the audience and leaders dressed in blue, and BN component party supporters carrying banners from their respective constituencies, placards stating ‘I Love PM’ and ‘I Love BN’ as well as the BN flag.

For those who did not get a chance to enter the stadium, a big screen kept them informed of the developments inside.

While waiting for the event to start, the audience sang several patriotic songs such as ‘Barisan Kita’, Barisan Nasional and 1M4U.

As early as 6.30pm, blue buntings decorated the roads heading to the stadium and traffic began to slow down. Also seen were buses which ferried BN supporters from around the country.- BERNAMA
